We’ve been studying drawing…starting with The Dot, discussing foreshortening (Hulk smash!) and stages of drawing development. Impressive!

Thumbs!

With Isaac Newton’s quote, we had a go drawing our thumbs!

Exploring drawing tools, surfaces and marks, lines and shapes.

We discussed the concepts of art, to look at and respond to our work, including our superhero selves…coming soon to a website near you soon!

Rocks and Soils and Our Local Natural Environment

We’re studying rocks and soils…today we used Google classroom to assess ourselves with a quiz at the end of the work! We’re growing to be a very tech-savvy bunch!

We went on a number of nature walks; we found fossils in the Old School yard walls, we gathered wildflower seeds down the boreen and we’re saving them for spring.

Amaze!

Our new soil has arrived, thanks to the GIY initiative, once again, we’ve been successful and have been given another year of soil, bulbs and seeds! We will have happy planting ahead in spring- vegetables and local wildflowers with our saved seeds.

Thanks to Dr Karina Dingerkus for her amazing workshops over Heritage Week, helping us bring biodiversity, seed saving knowledge and sustainability practices to our children in Errew.

Finally, we assembled our annual Bord Dúlra with our leaf rubbings, our seeds and nuts, various leaves and harvest collections! How lucky we are in Errew’s Natural Environment.

Uniforms 2022

School Uniform

As per parent vote, the school uniform from September 2022 will consist of a plain black tracksuit bottom and either the red crew neck jumper or the red zipped hoodie.  

  • Both can be ordered from ‘Personalise It’ on Main Street, Castlebar either in person or online using the following link: https://www.personaliseit.ie/collections/errew-ns
  • Cresting is included in the price of the top. (Crew €15 – €20; Hoodie €25 – €30)
  • Parents can call in store to try on sizes before ordering.
  • Tops can be purchased throughout the year if needed.
  • The uniform change is expected to be gradual. Households with older brothers/sisters that have tops to pass down may obviously use these first.
