Spring Lambs!

Much to our delight and excitement, Michéal Prendergast came to visit our school with some sheep and newborn lambs yesterday! It was a special treat to meet Patricia and her lamb, Timmy, who was only 3 days old!

We learned lots of interesting facts. Did you know some mountain sheep have hair instead of wool? Also, young lambs often have their tails ‘docked’ to help keep them clean. Michéal showed the children a band that is put around the lambs tail, cutting off the blood supply. The tail then falls off in 7 to 10 days. How fascinating!

Many thanks for the visit – it was a wonderful experience that we all thoroughly enjoyed!
