Measures in Errew!

We started with non-standard units (strides and cubits) and we used our beautiful natural environment around our school!

We used our basic school and grounds maps.

We created our own grids and marked them accordingly with our co-ordinates.

We hid some post-Easter eggs, who doesn’t like a bonus hunt?!

We measured out some metre stings, buddied-up and away we went.

Each group had a section of the yard and grounds to measure.
We measured the perimeter and then calculated the area of each section!

Some groups got an additional section- the shelter- measured too. We have a project planned for our shelter, so all data is appreciated!

We combined our data to work-out a total area of the measured sections.

We’ve also been studying the circle, so next challenge is the area of a circle!

Check out our practical work!

Happy Easter!

Naturally, we filled them with treats!!!
We painted Easter Wreaths! Check out our colour- mixing, patterns and style!
We also had our annual egg-hunt, thanks to 6th class for their help organising everything!
How about these gorgeous window boxes! Daffodils and roses for Easter!
Wow!
And sneaky Easter treats for the staff! Thanks to all involved!

And finally…everyone in Errew gets an Easter egg! We’re a very special, loving and fun small school after all!

Plus we’re super proud of our latest inspection report- we certainly deserve our treats!
