Goodbye 6th Class

Check out our instagram reel celebrating our last few weeks with our fabulous, clever and witty 6th class who make their way to secondary school after their hols.

Air high-fives gang! ✋✋✋

You’re all stars and will be deeply missed. ❤️

Gardening in the Last Week!

We’ve harvested our amazing produce and made a lovely, large salad bowl.

‘Green salad bowl’ leaves! Soft and buttery and lovely.
Lush, healthy kale- it loves this corner of the garden and has withstood the most powerful of kicks from future Sam McGuire winners here in Errew! Kale is deeply nutritious, iron-rich and makes delish ‘crisps’ and it grows so well and easily in these parts.

Our root veg have a bit to go, it’s a bit early to harvest, and they’ll be ready for next term! Thanks to the ladies in Senior Infants for their help ‘thinning’ our carrots and parsnips!
Peas! Lots and lots of pea pods have grown. They’re like little sweeties, emeralds in their pod shells.
The radishes are finally big and rosy!
Fresh mizuna! This hardy Asian salad leaf grows heartily in Ireland and can over-winter with some protection. A winner if you like your greens!
The blackcurrants are thriving! Our canes have become really well-established and the canes can be cut and planted about the school in the future. Free, highly-nutritious berries that grow with ease in Ireland West!
We didn’t harvest this mizuna; it’s gone to seed!
The first harvest of peas yielded quite the crop.
Dressed and ready to eat! Thanks to all the brave souls who gave their veggies a go, learning how to sow and grow for themselves. They’ll never go hungry!

Bake Sale!

Thank You!

The 6th class are so pleased and the community rallied around our school once again! Thank you one and all for baking, buying, chatting and making the day so special!

Invitations to a Beach Cóisir!

Building on when we last wrote invitations to one another, this summer we elected to invite a classmate to a fictional beach party. Sabrina Carpenter may even be in attendance at some!!!

Fair play- 3rd to 6th class is a sweeping range of skills and abilities. They did a great job!

Who wouldn’t want to go?!
A PLC – approach…Spanish too!

START competition!

We took part in a science trial having completed our course of webinars hosted by Galway University

We had a turn practicing when it was all done, to see if we could improve our speeds! We recorded our results in our Wellbeing Journals and as Personal Bests!

We also received a big box of pencils, pens and rulers (and a travel cup specially for teacher!) along with a very thorough and helpful critique of our work.

We didn’t win, but we do have a certificate of participation to celebrate our work! What an achievement. Fair play gang!
