We’ve harvested our amazing produce and made a lovely, large salad bowl.
‘Green salad bowl’ leaves! Soft and buttery and lovely. Lush, healthy kale- it loves this corner of the garden and has withstood the most powerful of kicks from future Sam McGuire winners here in Errew! Kale is deeply nutritious, iron-rich and makes delish ‘crisps’ and it grows so well and easily in these parts. Our root veg have a bit to go, it’s a bit early to harvest, and they’ll be ready for next term! Thanks to the ladies in Senior Infants for their help ‘thinning’ our carrots and parsnips!Peas! Lots and lots of pea pods have grown. They’re like little sweeties, emeralds in their pod shells. The radishes are finally big and rosy!Fresh mizuna! This hardy Asian salad leaf grows heartily in Ireland and can over-winter with some protection. A winner if you like your greens! The blackcurrants are thriving! Our canes have become really well-established and the canes can be cut and planted about the school in the future. Free, highly-nutritious berries that grow with ease in Ireland West!We didn’t harvest this mizuna; it’s gone to seed! The first harvest of peas yielded quite the crop. Dressed and ready to eat! Thanks to all the brave souls who gave their veggies a go, learning how to sow and grow for themselves. They’ll never go hungry!
