Spring!

The juniors worked hard and have beautiful displays to showcase their spring learning.

They were learning all about the life cycle of the frog and all about parts of the plant, as they start their spring planting!

They’ll be planting peas, beans and spuds too!!!

Planting and exploring the ‘Green Wave’ in seniors…

We went to Hoban’s tree to investigate whether or not the sticky buds have burst!

In Errew, we’ve been participating in our own Green Wave research since taking part in the original project as part of our Discover Science awards way back in 2004!!!

We observe the tree, tracking the sticky buds’ progress from tight bud to green leaf!

Some have burst!

It’s early days, but buds have burst and arrival of spring weather is welcome.

We also investigated last year’s conkers!

We’ll go again to see the growth soon!

A quick check on our blackcurrant canes en route back to school, they’re blossoming beautifully.

As we now know that spring proper warms up the soil, we have started planting!

We prepared the compost for our cress seeds, we’ll be gifting these this Sunday!!!

A busy day in the month for us, with more growing to come!

Planting our kale, grown from seeds
Making rows
And rows!
And little holes for our seeds!
Seeds are in!
Labels are in! We’ve planted salads; mizuna and salad bowl, we planted radishes and beetroots, we planted carrots, parsnips and turnips too. We will plant pumpkins soon and expect some will find a good home this summer where they can thrive! We will track their progress just like we did with our spider babies in the past.
Watering everything nicely!
Job done!

Later in the spring we’ll thin our seedlings and hopefully have good luck with the weather to help our little garden thrive.
